Dwight Smith is the founder, president and chief executive officer of Sophisticated Systems, Inc., which offers a customizable suite of technology solutions that fit the needs of its clients including IT projects, managed services, cloud services, technology deployment, network monitoring and security, hardware and software procurement and professional services.
Dwight was recognized for his leadership multiple times in 2016 with his designation to the Smart Business Smart 50 list, and as both a C-Suite and Columbus Chamber of Commerce Small Business Leadership Award honoree.
He has over 30 years of experience in the IT industry. Previously, he was marketing manager with International Business Machines from 1979 to 1987, Cullinet Software, Incorporated from 1987 to 1988, branch manager with Software Alternatives, Incorporated from 1988 to 1990 and founded Sophisticated Systems, Inc. in 1990.
Dwight is also very active in the Columbus community. In 1998, he established a non-profit foundation, TBTG (Thanks Be to God), to provide assistance to children in the community and around the world and established the non-profit, My Special Word, in 2015 with the hopes of teaching children the importance and value of words.
Currently, Dwight is on the board of directors for CTL Engineering, Inc., State Auto Mutual Insurance Company (Compensation Committee, Risk Committee, Nominating and Governance Committee and Independence Committee), Rev1 Ventures (Investment Committee), Columbus Regional Airport Authority, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Junior Achievement of Central Ohio, Chair, and The Columbus Foundation. He has also been a guest lecturer at The Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University.
Dwight received a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Ohio State University and an MBA in Finance from Ohio State University. He resides in New Albany, Ohio with his wife.
